This project involved the complete remodel and interior tenant improvement of an existing 36,400-square-foot retail building in Modesto, CA, for Ashley Furniture HomeStore.
The extensive scope of work combined a targeted exterior façade refresh with a comprehensive interior buildout tailored to Ashley’s branded retail format. On the exterior, the team executed new entry storefronts and modern exterior paint. The interior space was organized around a large showroom floor, a dedicated bedding gallery, receiving zones, and back-of-house support spaces. The build required precise field execution for custom sales millwork, specialized branded wall finishes, and coordinated retail lighting systems.
To deliver a modern retail environment within the existing footprint, the project required meticulous field verification, comprehensive life-safety coordination, and selective mechanical and building systems upgrades.
This project marks a distinct full-circle milestone for Huff Construction. Our team originally constructed this entire retail shopping center back in the early 2000s. Seeing the structure stand just as strong today as the day it was finished reflects the strict standards for quality and structural durability that Huff has maintained throughout our 55-year history.
